A few things
Our dog, Ben, died over the weekend. She was approximately 13 years old; I say approximately because we got her from some friends six years ago, and they rescued her from someone else as a puppy, so nobody knew her exact age. She was old, and she hadn’t been doing well. We expected her passing, but we were all still sad when it happened. I still look out the back window for her. We haven’t brought in her food or water dishes; we can’t bring ourselves to do that yet.
On a happy note, Craig TOTALLY OUT OF THE BLUE sent flowers to me today. I wasn’t even irritated at him (srsly!), we hadn’t gotten into a fight, disagreement, or even minor debate. There was no mind-blowing sex, either, as I’m dealing with my monthly visitor. No earth-shattering badness or depression, no happy celebrations…it’s just…Wednesday, October 8th, sunny and mild, and HEY, send Shelly some flowers!
My Avon district manager was here when I took the delivery. I saw someone walk up the driveway with flowers and I figured it was for our neighbors; he had gone into the hospital last week with a heart attack, and we often take their deliveries when they’re not home. The lady made it to the door and said “I’m looking for Shelly…” Apparently, I looked totally dumbfounded because she asked “Is this the right house?”. I blinked out of it and said “yeah, I wonder who sent them?” as I tried to balance the bouquet with the baby. Good thing I had a witness to the delivery!
The vase is a light purple glass vase (duh!) with butterflies on it. The flowers are all purple (duh) and there’s a witch on a broom….yep, purple. He told the lady I love purple and Halloween is my favorite holiday, so…this is what I got. It’s nice. I’ll post photos later, but Brandon is playing World of Warcrack in front of it.
Oh and also, one week ago my brother and his wife celebrated the birth of their little girl. She was five pounds 15 ounces, the tiny little thing! She’s cute as a button, just a tiny bit bigger. They’re all home and apparently doing well. Hmm. I should call them.
Anyway, that’s what’s up. Halloween party’s coming soon, seriously, if you want on the invite list, don’t be afraid to ask.

maybe he sent them just cus he lurves you. and your dog died. whatever the reason, very very sweet!
did you go to the ren fest this year? we may try to go on sunday if the weather is nice and i can walk.
I’m sorry about Ben. She was really sweet. I don’t know how I will react when it’s time for my dogs to go. Of course they are my babies. I think it’s really cool that Craig sent you flowers. He really loves you. And it’s so cute when he is protective of you, I could see that last night at dinner. I can’t wait for the party!!!!
Aww, I’m so sorry about your dog!
((hugs))
Nice about the flowers, though!

Yes, apparently, it was because he was feeling sweet and generous and loving – it was just such a shock because in 12 years? Never!
We’re thinking of going to Ren Fest this Sunday, as well, dependent on the weather, among other things. I hope it holds out!

I think he’s protective of me so I don’t kick his ass.
Oh wait!

I think Brandon is taking it the very worst of all of us, because he thinks it’s his fault. The Friday prior to her passing, Brandon took a photo of his pets to school to get blessed at Mass (it was the Mass of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of pets)…so now thinks blessing = death. Of course, he also believes in reanimation, so apparently, we’ll be having a zombie dog at the party!
Sorry to hear about your dog
That was sweet to send flowers. You never can tell about guys, they’re a mystery.
@wildboysmama - Except when they fart on everyone around them. Then they’re just “my boys”.
