I need a hair style. Can you help!?
This is me. The first photo was taken last summer, when Melena was about 4 months old. The other photo was taken three years ago, when my hair was a bit shorter and purple.
I have not had a haircut in nearly two years. My hair now reaches my buttcrack. I’ve almost always had long hair, though one time I did cut it off to my shoulders. I suppose that’s still long. I haven’t had bangs since 1992, when I was letting a HORRIBLE PERM grow out. My hair is very fine and stick-straight. I don’t do anything besides wash it, condition it, and brush it. I usually wear it up in a clip because it is just always in the way. Sometimes, I pull some of it back in a barrette, mostly when wearing it up gives me a headache. I wear it in a pony tail when I’m at home. My hair is healthy, and not overly-processed; but for lack of a trim, I have some bad ends.
I am in DESPERATE need of a hair cut and / or style. One thing that is a MUST: I will be getting blonde chunks put into my hair so that the purple shows more vibrantly. I haven’t colored my hair in over six months; maybe closer to a year. I would love to have something funky and low-maintenance but not lose all my length. It must also look decent on me; I’ve gained weight since the photo, so I’m sure my face is rounder. Heh.
I have never had a style. Seriously. Rosalynne has agreed to go with me when I get my hair done, but I ought to have an idea of what I want, don’t you think? I have no idea. I’m in some trouble, and I’m starting to get tired of sitting on my hair.
Ideas? Thoughts? Raucous laughing and pointing?

god, you are GORGEOUS.
oh, your hair is beautiful! i wouldn’t do anything too drastic. maybe just some long layers???

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA you must be a comedian. I put on makeup just for the photo. I don’t normally look like that in Real Life ™. But thank you

I thought about getting a mohawk. Even Craig says no. So who knows what will happen, but I need a cut!
go in, and have it shaped up. it’s too flat up top. you need some bounce, girl! some texture!
as far as making that purple show up, i think you need to be CAREFUL with the blonde. find someone who knows what the shit they are doing. “peek-a-boo panels” of blonde would look better than stripes. blunt bangs would also be a WOW thing, with your dark hair on the top layer, and blonde peeking out a bit below. GO TO A SALON THAT DOES YOUNG PEOPLE HAIR. DO NOT VISIT A BEAUTY PARLOR FOR OLD LADIES.
also your brows could use some shaping i think. if you do that, you will have more “open” looking eyes. now i will give you a complex, lol. but damn, NICE SKIN. you have great great skin.

I’ve had blonde done before, as is evident in the first photo – you can see how my ends are lighter on the bottom? Because it has grown out tremendously. I’m toying with bangs, but my hair is so fine and thin that I just don’t know if I’d have enough left! Also, I know about my brows, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to shape them into butts, sooooo….they stay that way. Because I’m low maintenance. And the great skin? Partly genetics but partly I’M AN AVON LADY and hey, cheap skin care! But mostly, good genes.
FYI, my hair has NEVER been bouncy. Just flat flat flat. And flat.
I’m gonna get my hair styled like that girl with the red. EXACTLY LIKE THAT. Except only different.

girl ok about those brows. if they were my brows (which they ain’t but i am just saying) i would pluck out that extry “arch” @ the top. b/c from what i see that fucks with your line. some of us, myself included, have to pluck the bottom. you would need to pluck the top.
ok hair! here is the dealio–you get bouncy hair when it is DAMAGED in some way. like, ok, i have fine hair. it is baby fine, it is like glass in its smoothness, it is just, UGH, in its natural state it just lies flat as road dog. the solution is to bleach that shit. then color it. anything that roughs up the cuticle of the hair a bit will give you some oomph. then you add PRODUCT. do not fear the waxes and pomades. if you rough up your hair, and get it a little dirty with product, it will do whatever you want. now, also COLOR. adding dimensional color gives the illusion of plenty of hair where there is none. it fools the eye. i will link a picture here: http://x54.xanga.com/59fd6b3431032126341897/b91603662.jpg
that is me, with good hair and a stupid-ass expression on my face. anyway. note that my hair is very thin! and yet the color hides that. and of course the aforementioned body and texture that comes from damage and product.
OK THIS IS TOO LONG.
<3,
michelle
ps i accept your proposal of mawwidge.
I have no suggestions, but good luck. My hair has reached my butt now, and I need to at least get the ends trimmed (they’re really bad). Every so often, I think about getting it cut, but I just can’t commit. When I wash it, I put it in a long braid because it takes too long to dry. Then I can go another couple of days without washing it. (I’m low maintenance too. At least with hair and makeup.)
I think you and I have the exact same hair. I fail at hairstyles usually because within 2-3 weeks of changing it, I’m back to throwing it into a ponytail every day. I am teh lazy.
I love the purple, it is vibrant. Also happy 34 and a half b-day
Have you tried a virtual makeover so you can try out different styles? Google makeover and see what you come up with. I thing I did the one on goodhousekeeping.com. Anyway, you can pick lots of colors and styles and get a clue. BTW I like your hair but I totally get the “I need a change” thing
Thanks for the hugs…I think I need to reply to an email from you not ignoring just out of it lately
Hi! I am just visiting!
How about a long layered cut, or shag cut?
Have you looked at the Emo cuts?

I never thought of processing my hair. I’ve always gone to great pains to take great care of my hair (not that you don’t!) by not using harsh chemicals, too much heat, styling product, etc. etc., and it would appear that I just need to ROUGH IT UP to make it do something. As for my eyebrows, I think I’m going to shave them off and then draw them back in with lime green permanent marker.

I used to braid it all the time, but even *that* was too much work, well, that and the little fly-aways that got out and went in my eyes and mouth and and and…

I’m pretty sure we don’t have the exact same hair, as I haven’t been bald yet this week.
I fail at hairstyles because I wouldn’t know one if it smacked me upside the head and called me Bob.

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks for the half-birthday wishes. I celebrated by doing nothing interesting, as always!

I tried a virtual makeover! It was fun! I think I’m addicted now, THANKYOUVERYMUCH.

I haven’t thought about many cuts, mostly because my hair cuts are “hey, just take four inches off, thx”, so aside from the virtual makeover, I’m a relative hairstyle virgin. Now I’ve got to DO IT. Thanks for stopping by!
